Stella Young: 2026 Christopher Wellington Moore Memorial Scholarship Awardee
As the 2025-2026 school year comes to a close, we are proud to announce this year’s recipient of the Christopher Wellington Moore Memorial Scholarship is Stella Young, an exceptional graduating senior from Oakland High School.
The scholarship committee selects one student who exemplifies academic achievement, artistic dedication, and a commitment to using their gifts in service of others. The award is intended to support students pursuing higher education with a focus on music and/or education.
Accepted to multiple prestigious universities, Stella has chosen to pursue a four-year degree in Marketing and Communications at UCLA, with the goal of pursuing a career in marketing within the live music industry.
This past summer, before my senior year, I joined The UC Theatre’s nine-month internship. This experience connected my long-lasting love of concerts with a potential career path in the live music industry, specifically marketing, [and] pushed me to pursue a career in marketing within the live music industry.
While honoring the work ethic my mom modeled through her sacrifices, I will be following my passion of connecting people in the live music industry. I am ready to move forward as a scholar who is determined to make the most of their education.
— Stella Young, 2026 Scholarship Recipient
What began as a walk into her school’s Future Center to speak with a counselor became the first step in a journey that now reflects the very heart of the Christopher Wellington Moore Memorial Scholarship. Stella Young embodies the spirit of this scholarship: resilience, ambition, and a commitment to education.
The Christopher Wellington Moore Memorial Scholarship Fund was established to honor the legacy of a young man named Christopher who demonstrated a deep love for music, baseball (especially the Oakland A’s) and the outdoors. His mother, Camille Moore, and his grandmother, Aline Lewis Wellington, were both educators, and Christopher well understood the value of educating youth. We are confident that Stella will carry forward that legacy with integrity, compassion, and courage.
Congratulations, Stella, we are proud to support you on your journey!
