Where’s James: Watching an ADU Come to Life

In Community Initiative, corporate philanthropy, customized giving, philanthropy, PVF News, PVF news, Where's James

Last year, PVF, in partnership with Meta, awarded $1.5M in grants from The Meta (formerly Facebook) Housing Innovation Fund to five local organizations. One of these five was City Systems for their project Aduo, an open-source, less-than-$100K, plug-in garage ADU solution for the Bay Area.

PVF’s Executive Director James Higa went to visit Aduo’s factory in East Palo Alto where they employing local residents to manufacture the units. Professor Derek Ouyang from Stanford and City Systems gave the grantees of the Meta Housing Innovation Fund and community members an overview and tour, seeing in real life a prefab ADU almost ready to be installed in a garage in North Fair Oaks.

“We all left feeling like this innovative solution will make an impact in housing for our communities!”
