Where’s Bill?: Touring a New Affordable Housing Factory in EPA

In customized giving, grantmaking, PVF News, PVF news, Where's Bill

East Palo Alto Housing is showing signs of life and Pastor Paul Baines is on to his next project. Baines is the Founder & CEO of Project WeHOPE, a nonprofit operating shelters, Safe Lot RV parking programs and mobile showers, bathrooms and laundry services across the Bay Area.

PVF has been a first funder of Pastor Bains over the years and we were excited to view his newest endeavor: United Hope Builders.

United Hope Builders is a non-profit factory enterprise and real estate development team focused on creating more affordable housing in the Bay Area, especially for the least advantaged. They recently were awarded 1 of 5 Facebook Housing Innovation Grants, made in partnership with PVF, to build a factory in East Palo Alto to manufacture prefabricated homes, employing local residents.

Baines has already created two new model homes and invited Bill Somerville to see this new housing model. One display home is made of two units and another of three units. It is impressive; It can stand alone or be additional housing in the yards of homes.

Bains shares that if the market demands it, he’d like to create a factory in the Central Valley as well.

We are proud to be able to find and fund outstanding programs and people.
