The Jackie Speier Foundation is a Designated Fund at PVF, helping women and children thrive in San Mateo County addressing poverty, lack of housing, childcare, and domestic violence. Read a blog post below about the JSF clothing drive fundraiser in partnership with the Treasure Paws, a nonprofit aimed to improve the lives of humans and animals everywhere by generating funding for deserving animal rescue organizations and providing sustainable jobs.
“Every purchase and donation helps transform lives. Thank you for supporting women and children in San Mateo County.” Carla Boragno, Advisory Board Chair of the Jackie Speier Foundation
An innovative, fun philanthropic collaboration has created the unique and eclectic Jackie’s Closet, a community-oriented outreach effort and fundraiser of the Jackie Speier Foundation. Adorning the round clothing racks hang tagged items priced exclusively for this initiative, creating a shopping experience that is both fun and meaningful, including designer gowns and accessories. At Treasure Paws, a thriving thrift store in Burlingame supporters can reuse, recycle and shop sustainably at the Jackie’s Closet exclusive pop-up shop from September 1 through October 31, 2025. The collaboration shows how repurposed goods, volunteer energy, and community generosity can create lasting change for both people and animals.
What makes Jackie’s Closet truly unique is its dual-benefit model:
- 50% of each sale goes directly to the Jackie Speier Foundation, supporting programs that provide resources for women and children in San Mateo County. These funds help address urgent needs such as poverty, housing insecurity, childcare access, and domestic violence prevention.
- The remaining 50% supports Treasure Paws, ensuring that the store can continue funding its vital work with the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA and promoting sustainable consumer practices.

In fact, 10% of gross sales at Treasure Paws always benefits the Peninsula Humane Society, meaning every purchase at Jackie’s Closet creates ripple effects of good—for families, for animals, and for the planet.
Jackie’s Closet thrives because of the community. Volunteers keep the collection organized and replenished, donors contribute gently-loved items, and shoppers fuel the mission by choosing to shop consciously. This cycle of generosity not only raises critical funds but also sparks awareness around conscious consumerism, proving that sustainable fashion can also be philanthropic.

Beyond being a fundraiser, Jackie’s Closet is a model of collaborative community partnership. Together, the Jackie Speier Foundation and Treasure Paws demonstrate how nonprofits with different missions can join forces to amplify impact. It’s a story of fashion repurposed, resources multiplied, and lives uplifted. By shopping at Jackie’s Closet, supporters help transform wardrobes into opportunities, turning style into a source of empowerment. With every garment purchased, families gain stability, animals receive care, and San Mateo County grows stronger. We invite you to be part of this exciting initiative.
