PVF's ability to respond to local community needs is supported by donors' unrestricted gifts.
CBO Center - support for the Oakland-based Hank Rosso Funding Library and Resource Center, providing capacity-building support to nonprofits.
Directors' Discretionary Grants - providing discretionary funding to outstanding nonprofit directors and school principals, to help initiate new programs and to allow critical needs to be addressed as they arise, given in 2006-2007 to organizations such as C.E.O. Women, East Bay Asian Youth Center, McClymonds High School, Oaktown Jazz Workshops, Prescott-Joseph Center for Community Enhancement, Street Level Health Project, The Unity Council and Wardrobe for Opportunity.
Laney College Philanthropy Class - PVF President Bill Somerville is teaching Understanding Philanthropy at
Youth Uprisings Educational Grants - Educational grants to support young people entering Laney Commmunity College, made at the recommendation of counselers from Youth Uprisings, a youth center at Castlemont High School in East Oakland.
